Fort Myers Police find witness to deadly crash

UPDATE (10:30 AM)-- Thanks to the public for assistance the Fort Myers Police Department would like to announce they have found the witness in the photo.


UPDATE (3:00 pm)- Fort Myers Police have obtained a photo of a possible witness to the crash.

FMPD says The driver is not believed to be involved but may have witnessed the initial crash.

UPDATE (12:30pm)-- Fort Myers Police responded to a crash on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Rockfill.

Two adult females and a three year old were in a mini van when they struck a palm tree causing the child to be ejected from the vehicle.

It was determined that the child was not in any type of child vehicle restraint. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two adult females, one being the child’s mother, were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are searching for any witnesses to the fatal crash.

Officers are requesting anybody who may have witnessed the accident to contact Traffic Homicide Unit Officer Daniel Aguilera at daguilera@fmpolice.com.


UPDATE (3:45PM)-- A Deputy on scene says at two people were transported to the hospital and one child was trauma alerted.


Fort Myers Police are have shutdown the eastbound lanes of State Road 82 at Rockfill Road.

Please seek an alternate route if possible.

Fox 4 are sending crews to the scene.
